Practice doesn't have an end

Here’s another thing to always remember about practice—something my teacher, Peter Thomson, often reminds us of:You have to find joy in it.

Practice isn’t about pushing or flogging ourselves to achieve some fancy pose. It’s not about ticking boxes or meeting an invisible standard of what a “good yogi” should look like.

We practice because we love it.Because life feels more grounded, more spacious, and more meaningful with it woven in.Because without it, something is missing. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said:“It’s not the destination, it’s the journey.”

So, how do you find joy in your practice?

And if you'd like the chance to experience a class taught by Peter Thomson, the Australian Iyengar Yoga Convention is coming up in November. Peter will be teaching there alongside other Australian Senior Iyengar teachers.

I acknowledge the Wirradjuri people as the first inhabitants of the nation and the traditional custodians of the lands where I live, learn and work. I honour their elders past, present and emerging. I recognise their continued connection to the land and waters of this beautiful place, and acknowledge that they never ceded sovereignty.
